Company Overview
The Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) www.chps.net is a growing national 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to making school facilities better places to learn by protecting student and staff health and enhancing the learning environment; conserving energy, water and other resources thereby reducing operating costs; and minimizing waste, pollution and environmental degradation.
Company History
1999 - Founded as a result of a challenge by the then Chair of the California Energy Commission to the major utilities in the state to work together to build better schools.
2002 - Incorporated in California as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
2005 - Opened up membership and expanded Board of Directors to include school districts, design professionals, and product manufacturers.
2008 - Became a National Organization adding Board representation from around the Country.
2009 - Expanded state level presence to 11 states with the addition of Texas and Colorado.
