Headquartered in Sacramento, California, the organization provides education and professional training services for city officials and advocates the interests of cities at the state capitol and in Washington, D.C.
Notable Accomplishments / Recognition
As a recipient of the American Society of Association Executives’ Award of Excellence for the grassroots campaign to end state raids on local revenues, our mission is to restore and protect local control for cities through education and advocacy to enhance the quality of life for all Californians.
Benefits
Benefits:
Pension: Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) 2% at 60; League pays the employees’ 7% contributions.
Deferred Compensation: Employees may defer up to $15,500 per year through the League’s ICMA/RC or AIG/VALIC 457 defined contribution plans.
Health and Dental: Employees participate in an optional benefit program that includes dental insurance and medical coverage selected from two HMO and one PPO plans.
Life Insurance: League-paid $50,000 life insurance coverage for employees. Supplemental employee-paid coverage is available.
Other Benefits: Under the League’s optional benefit program, employees may use a portion of their salary on a pre-tax basis to cover child care and/or certain health care expenses.
Vacation: Two weeks annually after one year; three weeks after five years of service.
Holidays: League employees receive twelve paid holidays annually.
Sick Leave: Employees earn twelve days annually.
