Company Overview
The Osteopathic Physicians & Surgeons of California (OPSC) is a 501(c)(6) professional society representing approximately 2,000 osteopathic physicians and medical students. OPSC offers continuing medical education programs, legislative advocacy, a professional journal, and other member services.
It is the mission of OPSC to advance the practice of osteopathic medicine as an independent, scientific and complete system of medicine for the restoration and preservation of good health, and to present programs of education and information that contribute to the effective, professional practice of osteopathic health care for the benefit of all members of the profession. We are structured to help the individual DO better serve the interests of osteopathic medicine, provide quality health care for patients; and to assist the public to better understand osteopathic medicine and its contribution to total health care.
Company History
OPSC was established in 1960 when the osteopathic (DO) profession was being merged into the allopathic (MD) profession. Since the osteopathic profession returned to independence in 1974, OPSC has grown and thrived. In 2010, OPSC purchased an historic property in downtown Sacramento to serve as its headquarters.
